Regina Humane Society

After 12 years of programming and design on two different sites in the Regina area and working closely with Executive Director Lisa Koch, her staff and the Board of Directors, our new Regina Humane Society Animal Community Centre broke ground on February 2022 with a grand opening in winter 2023. The project features a 37,297 SF one story building with full Adoption, Intake, Education, Public Clinic and Crematory services. RHS’ concept of an Animal Community Center is modeled after the Humane Society of Silicon Valley in the San Francisco Bay Area also designed by SMA. However, it also represents a unique, first of its kind in Canada as a fully integrated Animal Shelter and Municipal Impound and Animal Control facility. The Animal Community Center will be consistent with new facilities built in cities across Canada including the Winnipeg, Edmonton and Ottawa Humane Societies each programmed and designed by George Miers of Swatt|Miers Architects.
